i live just outside Windsor Ontario and my irises start around mid-may and go well into june, i'm in zone 6 so i would imagine that yours should start shortly after mine, like a week or 2 later. If you got a bunch of late season bloomers than you wouldn't have to worry about missing them, even mid-season irises should be blooming when you get home.

Unbelievably, my white, bearded iris is blooming RIGHT NOW. September 18th. I live metro Detroit area - Livonia. Is this rare? It bloomed this spring, several of them, but this one has come back and has three more on the stem to go!! What a beautiful surprise!

Can you please get a picture of the buds? I believe mine are also about to bloom for the first time!
