New to irises

I bought some iris rhizomes from Snowpeak last summer. I planted them in about mid August. Will they bloom this spring? I thought I read somewhere that they don't bloom the first year. I am hoping someone can tell me differently as I am anxious to see them in bloom.

You have planted early enough to get them acclimated. Based upon my own personal experiences, 50% of the iris should bloom this year. Next year should be better.

Tbanks, that's good news. I can't wait to see them! One other thing, do you know if woodchucks eat them? I have a woodchuck problem every spring, and slowly through trial and error, I am trying to plant things they don't like to eat.
