Hi there! We just completed a room for a 3 year old girl and her newborn brother. We painted the room Benjamin Moore Simply White, chose wonderful brightly colored boy and girl bedding from Serena and Lily, and then used a soft gray rug and drapery, a wonderful over scaled zig zag patterned linen drum shade ceiling light in a matching white and soft gray from Jonathan Adler. The client had a fun teepee and a bookcase in a bright turquoise which look fabulous in the space. Everyone loves it and it will be easy to change the look just by changing the bedding as the children grow. Good luck!

Super cute! NO shelf at all over the crib, please! There should be nothing heavier total weight than a small, stuffed animal near the crib at any height--no pictures, frames, hard objects, etc. This is not only to prevent things falling, but from baby getting upset and crying and bumping or kicking the crib. There are also earthquakes and freak accidents. Tie in the teal colour with something simple-the baby's name on the wall. Same colour bedding or throw. Or curtain-tie-backs. Congrats on not knowing the baby's gender yet. It is truly one of life's sweetest surprises at birth. :-) I love seeing the new daddies running up the hall with smiles on their faces, "It's a girl!" "It's twins!! We didn't know we were having twins!!" Faint. Lol.

Grown semi sane people who somehow get dressed every morning and go to work in a professional setting not looking like Ronald McDonald somehow cannot seem to translate that same understated professional sensibility to their homes. Would you wear every necklace in your jewelry box, Along with all of the rings and bracelets too? American home design has decended into kitchen sink design, where if a little is good, more must be better. Throw in another gable. Add in fish scale. Add a tower. Add some columns. Add some stone. And a different stone there. Add the kitchen sink up there on that ginormous trussed hip roof that results from fat house syndrome. With zero actual parti behind any of it. No central organizing idea. Other than excess. More is never better. More is just more. And mostly Too Much. Too many garbles within gables and Pringle can turrets and 5 materials is the Absolute Worst Design Trend© to ever happen to home design. NeoEcclectic doesn't have to be horrid. But, it mostly is, because no one has any sense of proportion or restraint anymore. You need an architect who doesn't do Bad NeoEcclectic.
