Hey man! Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely do that. It rained so hard that the bottom of the root ball had washed away exposing the roots and the ball itself is half the size it was when it came out of the pot. I know the roots are delicate so I'm hoping between the wind and wash it will survive

One more question, should I wrap the root ball in burlap to compact the compost and dirt back into a uniform shape root ball?

It's not necessary to have a nice round rootball.
What did you do with the maple? Potted it or planted it?
I too have a lot of Japanese maples in pot and in the ground. They are not as delicate as most perceive. As long as the roots didn't dry out, you're OK.

Hey mike,

The maple is still in the pot after that storm happened. The tree is still kickin'. Leaves are turning green? I've read a lot of posts prior about what could cause the leaves to turn green on a fireglow before I had this one, because I read a lot of people asking the same question, tons of different answers. I need to get a new 25 gal pot. This one has seemed to have lost it's shape which has caused the tree to lean to one side. Other than that and the japanese beetles ,which I've taken care of, everything's swell for when I replant it in the fall. Any suggestions before fall comes along?

Just keep things damp, not too wet and not too dry. Avoid the early afternoon sun if possible.
