do you water while its raining ... ?

i do ....

i figure at 100% humidity .... i am NOT losing half the water to evaporation ....

besides the fact .. that it takes a lot of rain to get through the tree canopy and to saturate the soil under the trees ....

so what the heck .... run the water while its raining ... if you have the option ...

something soothing about being out in the rain ... and looking at your garden ... there are dry clothes in the house ...

of course i am not talking about being out in a savage storm .. those usually dump enough water to not need the additional irrigation ...

I have my control box set to water and don't mess with it much all year so yea if it is raining and a scheduled water time it is going to get watered also

the only thing i usually do is run an extra cycle if it gets very hot or dry

i watered a set of hostas twice a day every day last year and most of them grew much more they i thought they would - no control group or anything just wanted to water the heck out of them and see if they responded. everything came up much larger this spring with one exception care to guess which one?

    I don't water,period! Phil

I water....by hand or with a hand placed sprinkler.
Amazing...I have only watered hosta once this year so far....it's either rained every day or been so cool and damp no water was going to evaporate anyhow! It's beginning to look like a rain forest in my yard but the cornfields are lakes. 1 1/2 inches of rain last night....2 inches the day before and more to come this afternoon...

Substantial hills are leaking water almost constantly so you may have far more moisture than flatlanders.

I water too, trees block the light steady rains and the overhang on the house does as well.

My husband objects - ha I win tho....

Nope, my hair frizzes in the rain.

I water in the rain often, by hand, like Ken, in my Muck shoes! I know he wears them, too. Here is one, size 11, in front of Cutting Edge. I water in the rain. I don't take my camera out in the rain!!

    Sassy,
My hair would frizz too, if I had any.

I do. The majority of the time the weather forecast is wrong. We use to turn the timers off if rain was forecasted and I don't know how many times it skirted us, either above or below.

Hey lindac, it's like a tropical rain forest here too! Everything is so lush! I'm all giddy, though the husband gets all panicky about keeping the lawn mowed. It could actually be cut twice a week right now...

Hmmm I've never thought to water in the rain, makes sense. Only issue I see is if the water is not penetrating the soil and running off, then watering is a waste of time as that would run off also.

It seems to be raining every few days here. The rain two days ago was so intense at times you couldn't see five feet out the door. All the rain and the clay soil seems to have made my gardens very happy.

Don't ever remember such a lush Spring, I'm hoping we continue getting showers at least once a week when we hit Summer.

No, because it only rains here in Winter, when I keep my hostas under a tarp to keep them dry!

Yep - my neighbors think I am certifiable, but who is to say they are wrong?!?!?

I water in the rain all the time.

BTW - I wish my hair would frizz - mine goes poker straight and flat
