If I were to take a cutting off of a bulb (seed) type plant,

and put it into a cloning machine, will these plants still be successful? I know that they will produce roots in the clone machine. I'm just curiuos to know if once planted, will they produce a bulb themselves once planted in a raised flower bed? I've obviously never encountered this, so if this is all possible, this could turn out to be a rewarding hobby(so far as being able to clone bulb types).
