What type are these?

What are the real tall clumps of light blue iris's called.

They are 3 to 4 foot tall.....with tiny blooms. In a huge clump. The blooms last about a week...........I love them for their weight in my beds, but they can't make a transplant for about a year. I'd post a picture.......but it's too dark.........any ideas?

Sounds like tall bearded iris, but need a pic to be positive.

Quite possibly Iris pallida, a bearded iris. These are vey tall, and have a pronounced sweet fragrance.
Could be Iris spuria that you have seen. There are some mauve/blue varieties of this iris. You may even mean Iris wattii or Iris confusa. I can't recall what the taller one is called.
I suggest you try doing a search on google for those I have mentioned, and see if you can find some photos.
