Do you know these Iris'?

Hi, I have a couple of pics to post. I have had so many Iris' in my lifetime but have quit growning them because of the weather here! However, I do have some left but no markers for them. I was wondering if any of you recognized either of these Iris'! Thanks, Ellie

    Hi Ellie,
Nice to see you over here too.

I don't know your iris off hand but have an old Schreiner's catalog so will take a look there when I have a few minutes. They look fairly modern with all the ruffles though there are a few oldies that have ruffles too.

    They certainly are lovely.

berrytea4me, I have a different picture of the top one now. That one was taken just before a storm hit and I was afraid I wouldn't get a pic. It wasn't opened fully. The other pic is after the storm and the flower looks kind of rugged. Shrieners and Cooley's is where I did most of my purchases but Maryott's was the best. Also from Rockytop Garden which doesn't seem to be around anymore. Thanks for your trouble!!! Ellie

    Ellie,
Oh, LOL, can't keep them straight. My catalog is a Cooley's not Schreiners. Its 1989 so if you purchased later than that you could have newer intros.

There was only one white with the form similar to yours but it has long "spoons" coming off the beard (thin, white, curled upward, extra "petal" flesh about the width of the beard but longer). Like doubling in dl I'm not sure how consistent this type of growth is flower to flower or in different climates. That one is called 'Snow Spoon'

There are MANY yellow with white "midrib". The form on yours is very full and flouncy and the white travels nearly to the tip of the petal. Plus the beard is orange fading to yellow at its tip- those seems to be the distinguishing marks.

    Some that look similar:
'Depth of Field'- cat px looks deeper gold and not as flouncy
'Olympic Challenge'- cat pix is not as flouncy and white not so pronounced

Here are some possibilities after looking at both Cooley's and Schreiner's online catalogs. Some you may eliminate purely on introduction date depending on when you think you purchased these.

    Cooley online
    yellow:
    Ritzy (Hager, 2004 ) M 37"
    Sunday Sunshine (R. Ernst, 1987 ) E M 36"
nothing similar to white (those whites with similar form are either pink or blue tinged and don't have the pale yellow edge)

    schreiners online
    Yellow:
    Trumpet Call Schreiner 2003
    Early Girl Schreiner 2006
    Summer Olympics R.G. Smith 1980
again, nothing quite like the white

berrytea4me, I do thank you so much but they aren't any of those! I had around 700 reg. Iris' at one time! but my late freezes got them so badly that two years in a row, I didn't have one to bloom. I would look across the yard and see those bloomstalks just brown. That is my reason for eliminating most of my Iris'. However, I do remember the names of Irises I had but not the iris itself. I never had any of those that you named. I was just going to keep a few that I liked and didn't label them. I have found a few of the names though. Thank you so much for your trouble. In fact, I think I will post a few pics. Thanks again...Ellie
