    Ellie,
These are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. Sorry I couldn't help with the other two. Maybe start with your list and eliminate the other colors? (so you are looking for just the names of yellow's and white's)

You must have quite a bit of land to have that many iris + so many dl.

I'm just getting started on iris again (along with dl, ogr, and installing the whole landscape). Have a few historics and some NOIDs that were either given to me or that I purchased at a local iris farm before I cared to label my garden plants. One of those purchased ones is about to bloom for the first time as I moved it last fall to a place where it gets better water.

My first iris bloom of the season is about to unfold (maybe open by this afternoon). One I've wanted to ID. It was given to me by a neighbor who gathered iris from an old homestead. I'm fairly certain it's historic but have been waiting for a bloom to photo & post for id.

Will just have a few iris to photo this year. Most did not like being moved last fall. Didn't have enough time to set good roots before winter. They are coming back slowly but sulking. Interesting that one set given to me late in the fall are going to bloom. They were accidentally buried under 2-3" of dirt when the septic guy dug out my tank. I uncovered their rhyzomes this spring when I saw leaves coming out of the ground. Must have protected them better from the cold.

Maybe I need to consider heavy mulching in late fall for this climate.

Oops, the one that openned today surprised me. Not the historic I expected, but rather one of those from my friend.

berrytea4me, where is the pic? I don't have that many Iris' now. i only have about 45 ! I got tired of them not being able to blomm for the late freeze. My neighbors would have gorgeous blooms open just as mine would freeze. The spot I live in is very cold and last year the late frost got my Hosta's too! Some died completely and my some of the JM'S had to be severly pruned. We have 8 acres but most of it is wooded!

I have a couple of historic iris. One is Wasbash, the other is Gnacchi, circa 1880, I think! have a great week...Ellie

    Ellie,
I posted pix on a separate thread so as not to highjack yours.

I had property that size about 20 yrs ago. I sure miss having the space for gardens.

I wonder if my "accidental" lesson in mulching (covered by septic tank dirt) would help your iris stay down a bit longer until last frost?

That would frustrate me too, if I lost the buds year after year. I nearly lost some here this year with a late 28 deg night. The edges of the bud casings look a little white with frost damage but fortunately the buds still came along.

Here is a link that might be useful: Know this yellow?

Love your pics Berry! Thanks for sharing.

Isn't it such fun to discover what new surprises might be blooming each day?

Beautiful pictures Ellie. I've been thinking about you and hope you are doing better. Your irises are so, so nice, it's a shame that the weather doesn't cooperate and let you see them every year.

We are in the midst of some very cool, windy, rainy weather here, and it's caused my irises to really slow down. Several are ready to open and they have been at that stage for the last 4 or 5 days. Many are new to me this year, and I'm really anxious to see them bloom!

Like you Sue, I take my daily walk to see if anything new is in bloom. You shared some of your irises with me a few years ago, and I am enjoying them so much. Thanks Sue!

berrytea4me, I didn't recognize your yellow but thought the first one looked like Wabash! Mine didn't bloom this year but I have had it for many years! As for the irises staying down, since I moved the few I have left to lower ground, they bloom much better. Last year they looked bad because of rust but the spraying must have helped since I haven't seen any this year! As for mulching, there is no way. With all the daylilies and other plants I have, I couldn't possibly find the time. Most years they are covered with leaves anyway!

Linda. I have been meaning to e-mail you as soon as I feel like digging. I haven't forgotten that I am sending Irises to you! I am feeling some better now but not well enough to dig just yet! I'm very weak but am working on building myself back up so I can be outside. That's where I want to be.

Have a great week, both of you!...Ellie
