If it is truly Solar Fire, and not just a mis-named rhizome, then getting another rhizome of the same won't make much difference. Each Solar fire rhizome will be exactly genetically identical. Space agers can refuse to exhibit their protrusions in some conditions. The do tend to be a bit variable. Maybe yours will give a better show next season?

Space agers are unpredictable, like some 'double daylilies.'

Sometimes not all parts are there and the daylily doesn't double.

My space agers were the best ever this year and almost all had the appendages until the last flowers on a stalk bloomed.

Yes, it is something in the genes I cannot explain. It's not something you failed to do. Next year I predict SF will do better for you.

lets face it, it was a hard knock year for iris this year with our endless weather...

Thanks all! I think it really is Solar Fire. And I just realized that all of my versions of It's Magic --those with horns anfd those without-- came from the same rhizome. So I should have known the answer to this one!

Solor Fire in all it's glory.

WOW! that's a beautiful Iris!

What a beauty! Although I am enjoying it this year, I'm looking forward to seeing it in full regalia next year!
