Thanks for the names! Much appreciated. I went through about a dozen catalogs looking for this one and nothing came close to the flower on this one! I'll shoot a closeup of the flower and post it if that helps ID.

Ron, I may be way off here, but to me, your "iris" looks like a Moraea. The leaves are not what I would expect though.
Check through the iris photos at the SIGNA database I have linked below.
Also you should be able to tell us if your iris grows from a rhizome or a bulb. I. virginica has a rather long rhizome, and tends to spread itself out wide. It also has (in my experience) a much wider leaf than shown in your photo.
Moraeas grow from distinct bulbs. The bulbs are generally fairly small, smaller than those of a Dutch iris.
A closer shot of the flower would help, particularly one taken from above.
