I'm not sure how tall those peas will get. But I bet they'll be about at their limit when you can put out tomatoes. Chances are, also, that the weather will warm up quickly and the peas will cease to thrive about the time the tomatoes get going. So I doubt you'd have a problem. Just eyeball the situation when it's time to plant the tomatoes. Sounds like a good and novel idea!

When I came home today my peas are blooming. Has anyone ever ate Australian Winter Peas? Or should I just save them for replanting in the fall?

Arn't they a forage crop for livestock...hmmmm I don't know but I do know that people here in the south plant things like blackeyed peas and beans for the deer..

They are a Pisum sativum (English pea) but I can't find any descriptor that differentiates them from Austrian field peas or Canada field peas. If they are similar to Canada field peas, they are a small smooth seeded pea used for cover crops, geen manure, and animal forage. Good for split pea soup.

can you actually eat australian winter peas? I have never heard of it but would like to know for sure
