looking for a name

Hi:

today in my garden I found that this lily from a trade

was in bloom , when I came in for my camera my cat had

broken the flower off the plant by the time i had gotten back to the garden :(( so I brought it up to the house

& stuck it into another plant just to get a picture.

can anyone give me the name of this ?

please email .

thank you

sue

Yours is an extremely dark and beautiful lily. The closest I have ever seen pictured is an Asiatic called Landini. However, I believe it is somewhat rare and unless you were very lucky, it is unlikely that you would receive it as a result of a trade. I love dark lilies and think they are beautiful in combination with so many other colors. I do not have Landini but wish I did. I saw it offered as a bulb some time ago, at a very high price and did not buy it. You can find a picture of it on a foreign web site of a Holland grower named Mondial Lelies B.V. The word in that address, Lelies, is the foreign spelling for the word lilies. Someone in Great Britain directed me to this site as they have an extensive photo gallery of lilies. When you reach the site, click on Lilies, then where you see Asiatic, go to Page 7 of the Asiatics and you will find Landini. There is another dark lily more commonly found called Black Jack. This would be another possibility, but from the Black color in your photo, it seems closer to Landini.

I've seen that one before.I know its the spider type thats the ones I like too. There is a place on the web dealing in only daylillys/hostas/peoneys.I can't think of the name.you can search their catalog by color.in the fall they always have a sale un-named seedlings.or named plants they are discontunueing.Maybe someone will remember their name(bulbs range 3.50-9& hostas are sold in 10-15-25 counts)

I think it is a Landini, looks like mine. It is dark. and I think it's a newer lily but not really rare. There were several suppliers in Canada selling it this year.

    Hi
I think that you will find that your lily is 'Nerone',this too is a very dark asiatic,it's been around for a few years,so you should be able to find it on the web.

I grow Nerone and in my climate it is not as dark, more dark auburn than this maroony shade. My 3 Nerones from Brecks were will over 5' high.

This looks identical to my Asiatic Lily Landini. I bought the bulbs this spring from Vesey's in Canada. I do not see the bulb in their fall 2006 catalogue, but maybe you could keep checking www.veseys.com . Best of luck! I've had so many compliments, and every bulb of the 21 I purchased has flowered.
