Yes, we had our first fresh green beans last week. Planted Contender and Bush Blue Lake. With the weather being what it was here in Louisiana the beans held up well. We plant them in the spring and again in the fall. I did plant Rattle Snake in the past and they did well. Will have to give fortex a try.

My Fortexes are loaded with blossoms and skinny green beans forming, so I anticipate a mess of beans later this week. Eight feet of a double row on a cattle panel trellis provides enough of these delicious green beans for summer eating and freezing for winter eating. And then there are the Italian green beans, some limas, and hopefully cowpeas this year for eating and freezing.

Last year the deer ate every single bean I planted, but I'm ready for them this year with my Scarecrow motion-sensor varmit-scarer!

Sounds like you shouldn't have a deer problem this year.

I have ONE BEAN! Out of about a dozen Blue Lake plants, I have ONE BEAN!

I plan to slice it real thin and share it with my neighbors :)

My row of Grandma Roberts Purple Pole beans are ready for the first picking. I'll have beans with new potatoes and a fresh from the garden salad for supper. Maybe some cornbread and a green onion to go with it.

I just picked some more RATTLE SNAKE BEANS.I just couldn't wait till tomorrow.They are so good cooked and put over cornbread.
