Lilies like moist soil and bearded iris like soil that dries out between soakings. But I have seen it done. I would keep the lilies at least 5 feet away and be careful with watering.

Perhaps some Floridians will read your request and suggest bearded iris that will accept your climate. I have read that Louisiana iris grow in warm parts of Florida - they like more water than bearded iris.

Your local nursery is your best bet for information. Ask other customers is they've had sucess with lilies and iris. Gardeners love to talk about plants.

Im over coral so the drainage here is great...and I use drip irrigation so different plants get different water amounts. But I guess I wont be intermixing them.

BTW..forget nurseries down here unless you are into tropicals..ME..I grow mostly roses LOL.

I grow daylilies and irises together. Neither of them like their feet wet, so they are great companion plants. I've been planting them beside each other for twelve years and they thrive wonderfully together!!! Generally, God does all the watering. And only occasionally have I felt the need to give them (irises and daylilies) a drink during a prolonged period of drought.
