You can do either one or both. There's not a whole lot of advantage to starting them indoors this late- you might get flowers a a few weeks earlier is all. As long as you plant below where the ground might freeze- 6 or 7 inches there?- the bulbs will start growing soon.

Indoors you can plant with the tops nearly showing, and you will get the pleasure of observing the plants close up. They need bright light or they'll get spindly. When you set potted plants outdoors, after it quits freezing, let the tops of the bulbs be at least a couple of inches down. Lilies actually pull themselves deeper as they grow, so they'll be where they need to be by next winter.

Ok I would like to plant them in the front yard, however I am not sure wether it would be good soil for the bulbs. I am going to plant them today however I bought some garden soil. Hopefully they come up this spring.

I will also be putting 2 of my casa blancas into pots. (12 inch pots) and grow them on the front porch.

I would wait until the ground is a little warmer. Keep them in a dark cool place until you do plant them. There are some great articles on Lily Culture on the North American Lily Societies web page. Cindy
