My Henryi grow to about 5 feet. Do you really think they will get 'swallowed'?

Mine don't grow that high - 3-4 feet, and they are behind some Cimicifuga racemosa, which grow over five feet. I had originally stopped growing lilies because of the lily beetle and but these persisted though I planted other things around them. the competition may be why they don't get tall enough.

I have since decided that I love lilies too much to give up entirely and use the spray.

You can dig lilies up in spring, but they will be set back, and flowers for that year will suffer. But the plant will be fine. Be gentle! The stalks, especially in the early part of spring, are brittle.

Keep in mind the new stem(s) don't always grow straight up so go out around a good 6 to 7 inches each side and try to get a big ball of dirt and move in one piece. Remember, lily bulbs are contractual so it might be deeper than you planted it, too. Be as careful as you can not to break any of the anchor roots or damage the basil.
