I am new to growing lilies this is my first year and i did
had disaster with them buds .And i have been told that they
wont regrow again from experts so i do suspect that if you lost the top of the plant (not some of the leaves )it wont produce second stalk .Lilies have only one stalk and they do not have shoots from the base as some of the other kinds of the plants .Some plants as tomatoes may loose them top and then they produce new between the last leaves .I repeat again i am not expert but i do read hours in lilies forums i
read so fare about 50 pages questions and answers .But
hopefully someone more experienced than me will have his word as well .So by my opinion bad news is you wont have blooming plant this year ,the good one is the bulb will get stronger
and maybe will produce a few small bulbs if the bulb is
enough old for this .Best wishes and good luck .I am sorry for your lost i feel as well terrible because i have my plants but i lost my buds due to overwatering and using too strong fertilizer .(sorry for my bad english but that is the best i can do for now )

artemisiawormwood is right. One lily bulb produces only one stalk each year. Since the buds are located on the top of the stalk, you lost this year blooms. Keep all remaining green growth - it will feed the bulb for the next year.

Unfortunately, Lilies are very delicious for many critters, so some repellent should be used if you have any animal ( deer, rabbits, puppies :) ) problem in your area.
