Have you tried growing Lilies by a gate?

I keep wanting to try to grow 6ft tall lilies next to a 4ft high fence with a gate. I think they would be nice in the spring and nice when in bloom, but I do have to leave the foliage up to cure after bloom, right? So is it going to look unattractive most of the time?

Has anyone ever tried that?

I don't happen to find the foliage unattractive so to me they would be fine. And yes you do need to let the foliage ripen.

The foliage can become yellow or brown by the end of the season, but you can cut these parts back when it happens. I agree, the Lilies look decent even after blooming.

You will have to choose varieties carefully. In my zone, even Orienpets do not reach 6'.

I've tried growing lilies and love them and love the foliage as well. Hope you'll be able to find the best type of lily for you:
