you might have a hard time finding a mature picture of 'stitch in time'. i have one just for the pleasure of "having one", and, i also enjoy the challenge of growing it and overwintering it. lets just say i won't be dividing and sharing this one anytime soon.

    it really is a novelty.

Here is a link that might be useful: check out this other tread

I just visited Sunrise Greenhouse in Grant Park, Illinois the other day, talked with the owner about this hosta. She showed me 3 or 4 of them that they put on the clearance table as "unidentified" because they all reverted to all green with no "stitching". I'm saving my money and removed it from my list.

Read all the past post on this hosta.
    Save your money!
Mine melted away last year...never, ever will I by that TC again...forget it.

I had two last year and lost both over the winter even though they seemed to do well all season long. Plus both were planted in different areas of the garden.

I agree - save your money. I've lost more money on this plant than any other in the past two years. Too many culls, too many deaths. The ones I did sell this year I marked down 40% - they looked good, but it wasn't worth the price I paid. If anyone who bought this one from me loses it I wouldn't hesitate to give them a credit for it cause it sure wouldn't be their own fault!

My biggest issue with this plant is that since it has a patent I can't even grow a really good one and then divide it and sell good divisions of it, not even to cover my costs on the dead ones (patents mean NOBODY is allowed to divide the plant, not to share or sell). Because of that I won't grow or sell any tissue cultures of it again... Basically by having this one patented it killed the market for a very nice hosta. I've said it before, patents only work on plants that are interesting but also garden worthy. If you can't grow a good one from a starter plant, but that is the only way to buy them, then it is worthless.

Sunrise Greenhouse sounds like a really impressive nursery. I'm not anywhere near Illinois, but I'd definitely support a nursery that culls bad hosta.

I wouldn't buy a hosta from ANYWHERE else after buying from Sunrise. Was introduced to it two years ago by hostared who lives close to it. I am two hours away but it's worth the half tank of gas. Jean the 'Hosta Queen' is not only extremely knowledgeable, but you have prices that are unbelievable. We ate lunch at a little family-owned restaurant in Grant Park last month after stocking the car full of hosta and the waitress told us people drive from all over to go there....even from California!

Chris I wish it was you I purchased it from.
I never do mail order (because I go to Sunrise) but I purchased it mail order when it came out! Shame on me.
I contacted the supplier this year and all I got was "it's slow to start"...I don't think so because it's dead! No compensation. I agree 100% with what you said...some are just duds.

Carole...anytime we can get together we have fun especially when we are plant hunting! lol

Moosenoz, is it possible for you to crop or resize your pictures? all I can see of yours is one or two leaves and a lot of mulch.

sorry chris, just noticed that my camera was on the 16:9 aspect ratio setting, that explains the larger picture. don't think it's possible to edit posts on this board.
