Some bush Romano beans do send out short runners, but no need for poles... just let them go, or clip them off.

FWIW, my cowpeas do the same thing -- send out short runners that sort of wave about in the air above them. They'd probably fasten onto a trellis if it were there, but the plants stay upright just fine without one.

I planted Roma bush beans one year, and as they send out vines enough to convince me that they were pole beans. I rushed and built a trellis just in time for the "vines" to runt out.
