You may be looking for "Black Eyed Stella"
Pop that into Google and you'll find pictures so you can figure out if that is indeed what you're looking for.

True lilies are genus Lilium.

Stella d'Oro is a hemerocallis and it's root system is called a rhizome. True lilies have bulbs.

Not every plant with "lily" in the name is a true lily - to wit" Calla Lilies, Peace Lilies, Lily of the Valley, Agapanthus or Lily of the Nile...

To add to the confusion: most of the daylilies roots are not rhizomes :o). They are tubers. The difference between bulbs, corms, tubers and rhizomes.

You're right re. root systems; I stand corrected. Was moving some of my tall bearded iris and had those fresh in my mind.
