Pinto bean question

Hello everyone,

Nice to find this forum. I read as many forums as possible. They are great.

My daughter grew a pinto bean at preschool, and we transplanted it to the ground. Amazingly it is doing better than I expected. My question is, can we eat the green pods off the plant? We did and we did not have any problems, but I vaguely remember that eating uncooked pinto beans could make you sick. Some people even would say that they were poisonous if not cooked.

I will much appreciate any input or personal experiences.

Thanks,

Almendra
