Will I ever have beans??

I planted some Kentucky Wonder pole beans about mid May from seed. They are grown and semi-lush looking (as much as they can be in the almost 4 weeks of triple digit weather we've had here in OK!).. and they even have some blooms on them.. but NO beans yet. It seems like it's been forever since planting them. I read today that it could take up to 110 days before harvesting after planting, is this correct? They have been blooming maybe 3 weeks (and not hugely, just some here and there.)... Could it be the very hot very dry weather is causing them to not pod or is it that I haven't given them long enough? I try to really water them (not overly) and to watch for bugs and such and they seem to be really healthy. I would appreciate any answers!

Your hunch about the heat and drought is most likely correct. If you keep them watered and healthy I suspect you will get a decent crop of beans when temperatures moderate. Where about do you live? Here in Oklahoma most everything in our gardens is languishing. I've even had trouble getting a solid stand of OKRA!

I have never grown Kentucky Wonder in this climate. It was very dependable and not very late in NJ, when I was growing up. But I have heard that it struggles with extreme temperatures. Perhaps in the future you might experiment with something like Rattlesnake.

Thanks for the info George! I am in Farris OK... between Antlers and Atoka.. I have in-laws in Tahlequah!

Okay.. I am hoping then just to keep these beans happy, watered and cared for and when it hopefully cools down a bit in four weeks or so I'm EXPECTING green beans!! It seems like it's been FOREVER! Yes, next year I think I will try a different kind, is Rattlesnake one that is heat resistant?

Yes Rattlesnake is heat resistant, and you might also look to trade some seeds with the growers of Black Jungle Butterbeans (BJBB) or any other lima bean, or maybe a cowpea. They love heat.

We planted Blue Lake pole beans around May 21 (the package says 63 days) and we are still waiting for enough beans for a meal. Our bean foliage is lush with many blossoms, plenty of bumblebees around too. Hoping cooler weather will bring us some beans! (Northern New Jersey)

No beans here, either & I planted seeds from Native Seeds to make sure I got some--not even any blossoms. They have buds that do nothing--both bush and pole.

I am growing bush beans, sorry not sure what kind off hand, but they are very bushy, few blooms, but no beans yet. It has been very hot here, but I have been watering. Will I get any beans? I am in central Missouri.
