container gardening iris?

We have just a small garden area where we live and the iris are just spreading and taking too much room. I was wondering if I would have any luck with planting the iris into some large containers for this year. Has anyone had luck doing this type of thing?

Tall beardeds travel!

By a large container do you mean a barrel half? That is what is needed for vigorous TBs. I have used 5 gal. containers without a lot of success.

Standard dwarf beardeds would be a better bet.
