The beans in your photo are bush beans and now you are looking for something similar in a pole bean? Perhaps something like Borlotto Lingua di Fuoco?

Concur with aftermidnite. In my younger days in Virginia, October beans were a very popular fall shelly. The major variety grown was the the bush Dwarf Horticultural, Taylor Strain. Pole version was the Giant Horticultural. Last time I saw them advertised as such was the Vermont Bean Catalog, but i the 50's - 70's Southern sates carried them. Probably still out there under a different name. It is amazing how many things have been renamed over the years. Southern States currently offers the French Horticulture which appears to be the same bean. I actually see an "October" bean touted on some "heirloom" sites, but I have no idea of its origen.
