The branches on my Red Maple "October Glory" look very attractive and red in the winter sun. I know this is new growth, but is it just last year's growth? Can you predictably say that the red branch tips are last years growth, how much it grew last year? Can you tell the yearly growth of Japanese Maples the same way?
