The city we live in "encourages" trees in the boulevard. They suggest amur maples because there are overhead powerlines close by. I have a question on the roots. Does the amur maple have the big surface roots like large maple trees? There is a sidewalk about 3-4 feet of where they will be planted and we don't want to have the roots eventually heave up the sidewalk.
