Unless you can identify a graft on the tree, it is just a species JM, Acer palmatum. As these trees are extremely easy to grow from seed and quite robust in thier germination rate, they are frequently offered at plant sales.

Seedling grown Japanese maples are rather variable in both their coloring, growth habit and mature size. Typically they can get big (and wide) - I'd expect at least 20'.
