Plan B!

Though I may, and that is a huge "MAY' be able to grow veggies in the plot of ground the village of Lockland is allowing me to, I doubt it. My goal, and I have some help, is to try to haul good, solid, mostly clean dirt and cover part of the ground with 8-10" of soil. If worse comes to worse, I will try to till enough space to grow about 500 tomato plants plus 75 feet each of chard and squash.

But I found an alternative spot, one owned by the county but leased forever to the county Agricultural Society. Over 30,000 sf of flat land, not hard to access. Creek bottom, which should mean a few rocks but very dark, loamy earth. At its widest area (east/west) it is 550 feet. Going close to the northern boundary, 250 feet. About 80 feet wide. Even better, it is almost close enough that if I really had to, I could pull/push my tiller to the area. As the crow flies, I could possibly set up a remote weather station with a reporting distance of 330 feet.

Keeping my fingers crossed here. Trying to shoot for a five-year lease with the idea I can try some dwarf fruit trees (the presentation is that I want to do an Urban Gardening Demonstration project). Alternative Two is three years, so I can plant berry bushes and plants (strawberry, blackberry, raspberry) and finally, Alternative Three is to let me do it this year and then deal with 2012 when it arrives.
