Bark on trunk doesn't look so good for sure. But I'd prefer to see a shot of where tree enters ground to judge planting technique, which can indeed influence many other issues. Is there ANY open soil around the base of these trees or is it all concrete?

These trees are seemingly disease resistant and the leaves do not look like they are diseased, but just turning colors. We had 1 tree re-planted, but I am unsure if it is unwise to replant again if its a soil condition or other porblem.

Good! More soil surrounding than I expected. The bad part.....trees are telephone-poled or planted too deeply. The root flare - or where the trunk gradually spreads out into the root system - should be visible at the soil surface or slightly above. You can try to remove some of the soil away from the base of the tree but I'd guess that the damage has already been done. Planting too deeply is a primary cause of tree failure.

So very sad as these trees are so gorgeous! I will attempt to save the ones that can be but I am sure we will be replacing the worst one. There are a few doing fine, but this is disappointing. Thank you very much for your input. Learned lesson not to hire someone who doesnt know what they are doing or just do it myself!

Agree, planted too deep.
The bark damage looks to be sunscald as all the damage is facing the street. It is 'healing' though.
The third picture shows more recent damage on the wound on top. The crack below it could have been from mishandling when being transported or planted, as in strain between the rootball and trunk and is just now showing up. That happens more often with large trees rather than small ones.
Do they get any additional water other than rainfall?
A couple of years ago I spent a wonderful day wandering around Myriad Gardens in downtown OK city.
