Is it too late to plant beets in a raised bed in Minnesota? I have tried in past year and never been successful. Always had good germination, but never had the roots fully develop?

Anyone local out there had success with beets?

Also, can I grow them successfully in containers? if so, how deep do they need to be for the roots to develop properly. Thanks.
