    I think it is green onyx, Home Depot carries a tile version of something very similar. not that is is the product, but looks very close in composition.

      Granite countertops are templated and set first. Then on the wall behind the back splash is metal laminate, you can see it up high behind the mountain shape on the granite back splash. Then the back splash is templated and set. Then we installed the hood.

      Were there concerns putting the granite up, that the cabinets would get scratched?
      Is the granite backsplash all one piece, or are there seams? -- I don't see any seams.. Thank you. I do see the metal laminate now - very nice! I love this.

      It is one single piece of granite. It was very heavy and we did have to be very careful moving it. We have a small gap around the edges so it does not hit the cabinets. I've attached a photo to show there is a small gap, it is a little hard to see. We also added a layer of drywall on the wall next to the granite to make the granite look less thick.
