I would say let it go and see what happens. According to your previous post, it was an established plant. Usually a well established plant can survive a defoliation for whatever cause...disease, insect or drought. Repeated defoliations can kill it. If it happens again, then I would consider removing it if you can't exactly figure out why it is happening.

Thanks ginkgonut. I'll take the 'wait and see' approach with it. I acutally went out there last week, pruner's and spade in hand, all prepared to dig that thing out and what do I find but tiny leaf buds all over the plant.

Happiness was short lived. Only a select few branches on the shrub have actual live leaves on them. At this point, it's a goner. Darn it!! Here I was hopeful it could be saved.

The good news is I had already purchased a replacement shrub for that spot so now I don't have a shrub hanging around trying to figure out where to put it.
