Hostas overwintering

I put in quite a few hostas last year. They seemed to flourish all summer and I mulched them well in the fall, made sure they had plenty of water and all that. They're in a colder, i.e., less sunny, part of the garden, but so far I haven't seen a single one popping up, though others located elsewhere are growing well. If they fail to show, what might be some of the causes for that? I can't remember a year when a whole group of them failed like this. Please tell me it's a lack of patience on my part! Thanks. Mine just started popping up yesterday, and they haven't all - just the two biggest ones.
I was just freaking out about my asparagus - but it's just come up too. I think things are just late this year.

Even in the darkest, coldest spot in my yard the hostas have popped up.

I divided a Guacamole last spring. They have popped up in one area and I see nothing in the other area. Hostas dying over the winter. Go figure.

My Hosta are arriving at a very slow pace. The ones on the North Side of the house still aren't showing any signs of life. I think it is just time to show patients.
