As am I. Today was supposed to be sunny - then they added a shower or two and reality was an all-afternoon rain!! I feel garden-deprived and my plants are beginning to look people-deprived.

What's more it is now Tuesday and it is still raining. It's to wet to finish the rain garden! One bright spot, my bleeding heart and tulips are thriving.

I'm sick of it too. It might not be so bad if I would stop reading the forecast. I swear, they made up the story about a sunny day yesterday so we wouldn't become depressed and start making plans to move south.

When I lived in Japan, we had a fourth season -- Rainy Season. I never noticed MN did too until I moved back here. In my city, the rainy season was accompanied by very high humidity; the only way to not feel clammy was to visit a hot spring and be completely wet! So, I keep that in mind to try and instill a sense of gratefulness for the current state of affairs.

But, being an avid gardener, like most of us on this forum, I'm finding my patience wearing thin...

I too am tiring of the rain. However, on the upside I've really enjoyed the extroidinary spring - I've never seen the flowering trees and tulips and other spring flowers last so long. It usually warms up so fast that spring is much shorter. Come on - think silver lining...

Yeah, silver lining :) my tulips are gorgeous... my Mary Queen of Scots rose though can hardly restrain herself much longer - we get any sun at all and she's gonna explode! My clematis are NOT happy about the rain, however.

Yep and then out here on the prairie you add wind and it rains at a 90 degree angle. Out of desperation, I worked extra shifts during the rainy days. More money to spend if the sun ever does come out and I can get in my gardens without taking a mud bath.

I'm using this time to transfer(or transplant, whatever) my moss from one side of the house to the other. It is an absolute perfect time for doing this...the moss is filling in so nice around the pavers. If the weather keeps up like this, my small northside of the house will be grassless with the bleeding hearts, moss, hostas, ferns and cute little jacobs ladders taking over the area. My husband will be thrilled to not have to mow that area anymore

I'm amazed I have a clematis in bloom and it is covered with large blooms.

In a big way, I am oh so grateful for these gray days. I transplanted a Gold Coin Scots pine, 2.5-3 ft tall. EVERY bit of soil dropped off its decidedly unfibrous root system. Amazingly, it looks happy as can be, even though the candles had already extended.

If you can be gentle with the soil so as not to destroy the structure, "it's the most, wonderful time of the year" (oh wait, that song is talking about Christmas). Well . . . to each, his own.

P.S. You could come to the Rock Garden Society Plant Sale this Saturday(mostly non-rock garden plants) in Roseville. BUT they did CHANGE the starting time to 10am. I can send you a map if you like.

I've been back up to the Twin Cities the last 2 rainy weekends so I have to ask, which would you rather have - a rainy, cold spring like this one.....or a dry, dry, dry and dreary one that followed less than normal winter snow cover? Chicago is finally having a day of rain (today) and I am thrilled!!!!

kec *laugh* don't ask me that after three straight weeks of rain... I'm one of those folks who moved AWAY from Washington State because I couldn't handle the gray weather any more :)
