Oh, Dear, I think I am in LOVE.....

Just saw a very handsome plant today and it was labeled 'Elderberry ~ Black Lace'. It looks like a Japanese maple at first glance!

I must have one of these, soon......

$15 for a gallon pot at the Friends School plant sale! I'm getting one, too.

All of the information I have found about it is that it is zone 5. Have any of you found anything other than that? The zone isn't shown in the Friend's catalog.

I have heard of people having mixed success with the fancy elderberries like the purple and golden leaf varieties. However, I think kind of like what happens with some of the smokebushes, even if there is some winter kill it rebounds very quickly.

I know what you mean- it is a beauty!
Even my husband was quite taken by the beauty of that bush- and he doesn't comment much about plants- unless they are good to eat.....We saw a picture of it while i was googeling what was available from the Friends sale-
