I have an area of the yard completely taken over by wild violets. My DH loves them. I have run out of garden space.

Would it be feasible to plant hostas in the violet patch or will they choke new hostas out?

What about transplants that would be a bit larger?

Would other hosta companions survive there too: astilbe, brunnera, lilularia, coral bells, Jacob's Ladder, bleeding hearts
