You want something that not many other people in Brooklyn want, apparently. Have you tried Asian grocery stores? Sometimes down here in the DC & Baltimore area, the biggest ones have a plant vendor in the part of their store that is like a mall, usually selling orchids and bonsai starts, and that ubiquitous faux bamboo. Some places' shipping charges are not much worse than a couple subway or LIRR trips:
