Kristy-you need to show the entire plant for id. It's a little hard to know without seeing the rest of it.
Also, did you know there is a 'Name that plant' forum? Lots of botanist types LURK there waiting for questions like yours.

Thanks. I did know about the forum but had forgotten...it's been a long time since I needed ID.

As for the entire plant...it was planted from a mixed wildflower seed packet a couple of years ago and is pretty much jammed in there among other little flowers. Getting a full-on shot would be difficult without pulling the plant out. But the small silver-green leaves that you see there are pretty much what the whole thing looks like from top bottom.

An educated guess: a Silene species

I think this is wild phlox...I got a number of them this year in wild flower seeds. I suppose they have a more technical name, but I don't know it.

Wild phlox sounds like something I might have read on the back of the seed envelope. I can see how it looks like Silene of some sort. Does that get taller than a foot at all? If I had been thinking this afternoon I could have at least mentioned that these flowers are probably about 20-inches tall.
