If it a spring tulip blooming in a pot, you really just treat it like cut flowers. Enjoy the blooms while they last and then you are done. If you really want to keep it you can try but success is limited. It is an outdoor bulb that has been forced into blooming and the strain really depletes the bulb.

To attempt to keep. When the blooms are finished, cut them off so that they do not form seeds then fertilize once with a dilute liquid fertilizer. Keep in relatively bright light and water once or twice a week. Eventually the leaves will yellow and dry up.

Put the pot in a cool dry place. In spring, when danger of frost is past (do you get frost in Texas?) or when the ground can be dug, empty the pot and separate the bulbs (look something like onions) from the dirt.

Pick a sunny location in your garden and plant the bulbs, pointy end up, root end down about 4 inches deep. Mark the spot do that you do not accidently dig the bulbs up in the future. Due to the effects of forcing, the bulbs may or may not survive. If they do, you are unlikely to see blooms next spring but may get blooms the year after.

In most of Texas, when directions say "full sun"...
don't plant it in full sun.

I killed a bunch of beautiful tulips & hyacinths by planting them in full western sun.

Morning sun with some protection in the afternoon would be the best.
