Apricot? I think you'd be hardpressed to describe the flower color as "apricot". It's pretty much a clear pink :-). The attached photo was taken at Van Dusen Gardens......I'd try there first.

It's a good one. I bought a one gallon plant at a garden center here a few years ago, but it appears the sandy soil I planted it in way down in the front of the property dried out too much and killed it. Locals can see a well-established specimen along Azalea Way in the Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle, south of the entrance to Rhododendron Glen. There is also one at Kubota Gardens Park, the new plantings along the stream near the parking lot kind of lead up to it. Walking along the new area and then turning to go down into the main part of the park, the magnolia is on the left.

They had it labeled as a Campbell magnolia or a hybrid of it, hopefully my identification of it as 'Star Wars' has been conveyed to the staff and it will be so-labeled at some point.

Look instead for this one. There are also other possibilities, but this is a plant you can probably find at a local outlet - or can ask for at one. The supplier sells to many garden centers down here.

Thanks for all the info.... it certainly isn't "apricot" in colour, is it? Hmmm.... I'll give it some thought.
