Acacia ready to bloom

Here are some pictures of an Acacia near my house. Just took them today. It is one of the only ones around, and I just love it. The flowers are incredibly fragrant, and at this time of year it's hard to beat. I have taken seed from this tree, and they germinated without treatment. From the looks of it, there should be many seeds to come later this year. Take care.

SUPER GORGEOUS!
I have a small acacia prevessima (Sp) but it did not like our cold spell. I think it will recover all right but it is only about 30" tall this year. For the last several years we have had acacia blooms from my friends tree to use in our cut flower business at Valentines. THis year it is at least 2 weeks behind scedule.

Hi lizalady.

Is the tree your friends have Acacia dealbata? I have heard pravessima has done well for people willing to try it. I think they very quite a bit in cold tolerance, depending on where the original seed was collected. One of these days I would like to try one, but for now my yard already has too many young dealbata's. I will have to remove one or two eventually; if they don't freeze first that is. Take care.
