I plant 4 plants every year - and always have good luck -- Mine are in full sun, but not too much clay soil - I do use cocoa bean mulch several inches thick, it really builds up the soil and holds the moisture in - I love these grasses, but at $10.00 each - I wish they would come up with a perennial version. They need alot of water, do you mulch ? Mary

Thanks for your reply, Mary. Maybe a lack of water is the key; I thought they were drought tolerant. I do mulch that flower bed but I guess I need to start toting water more often.

I had one in Phoenix when i lived there and loved it was pretty disappointed to learn it is an annual here. Very pretty grass but i guess it likes it hot. I liked having passion vine too but have heard it will die here in the winter.

I bought about 30 of them from lowes this spring. I plan on mulching them really good, and see if I can keep them alive for next year. I was told to mulch very good and if I can to put old containors over them.
