Dwarf Pomegranate Punica Granatum

Does anyone have experience with dwarf pomegranate here in the Pacific Northwest. I am in Vancouver, WA. Just purchased one today at the Chinese Garden in Portland and looking forward to planting it. Can it stay in the ground year round? What is the most successful lighting conditions (north facing, south facing garden, shade or sun)?
