Plunged into bark, sawdust or other moist but aerated material with no bags or other barriers to aeration.

Sweet cherries must have good drainage, if intended planting site is prone to sogginess and puddling it will not be suitable anyway. If whole property has fine-textured soil that becomes quite moist during the rainy season maybe need to have some sandier soil trucked in to make berms or mounds to plant the cherry trees in.

I thought those varieties die on the west side of the cascades. Too much rain. Freaking chain stores make people ignorant.
