Nope. Ours are being planted today. We have clay soil and it is sure gooey but we got it ready between rain storms. Last year I planted some early and it was really cool and the ones I planted later caught up. Mind you, last year was an awful year without sunshine.

We put some sugar snaps into the ground today--the soil wasn't sticking to the spade so in they went :)

I planted sugar snap, snow and shelling peas a little over a week ago and it's rained a fair amount and I've watered, but nothing yet. I only soaked them for about an hour though, so no pre-sprouting for mine. I hope they work out in weather that's been in the low 50s at best.

My Aldermans are up to two inches tall. My sugar snaps haven't popped yet, but I planted them later than the Aldermans. My bush peas haven't popped yet, but they are about to. I dug up a seed yesterday to check the progress and it was doing fine, just about ready to break through to the surface. Last night I planted a few extras in growing trays to fill in any holes.

I planted a row of peas 2 weeks ago, so far not a sign.

My Sugar Snap, Green Arrow, Eclipse, and Tacoma have finally sprouted. The sun the last few days has been kind.

Just planted my Calverts today!

I took the black plastic off my lasagna beds last weekend, added two inches of semi-composted manure and an inch of compost. Then I planted the peas. Just went out this morning to check on my chickens and the peas are about two inches tall.

I live in Yacolt, WA. About 700 ft. above sea level. About two to three weeks behind Portland, OR in terms of when the growing season starts.

Last year we had a bumper crop of snow peas. We had a nice long cool growing season. So I saved a lot of snow pea seeds. I planted them a month ago and they appeared to have rotted. I don't know if they would have germinated anyway.

So I bought some snow pea seeds. None have come up yet, but a few in places were I didn't think I planted them!

I keep forgetting about sugar snap peas! I need to try those.

I live not too far from Yacolt in the View area at close to 1000'...I planted snow peas in that dry period a few weeks back and they are up and looking good even in the snow! Hoping for another break to plant my Sugar Snaps and a second round of snow peas. jwww

We're on an island in Puget Sound, planted sugar snap peas and radishes on 3/17 - not a sign of peas, and just a few radishes showing after 2 weeks.

But then we had SNOW three days in a row and several cold cold nights.

How has the snow affected your growing peas?

Will the peas rot in the ground with this cold weather? I soaked mine before I planted but so far not a sign. The weatherman says it is finally going to warm up tomorrow but we got frost overnight.

Mine sprouted in the cold and snow/rain about 3 weeks after planting with an hour soak first. Since then I've covered them with a cold frame to be safe. They seem to love it.

Peas are quite cold hardy. The bigger worry is cold and wet which can delay germanation and rot the seeds. Once they pop up, they will handle the cold quite well.

Has anyone tried presprouting theirs? Yikes, its still cold..

Presprouting is pointless as the ones in the ground will catch up to them after you put them out. Peas like cold. If you are west of the mountains, plant outside right now!

My Aldermans that I planted outside in Feb. are 3 inches tall. I planted my third round of peas yesterday.

My original (presidents day weekend) snow peas re up about 3" after being under 4" of snow last Saturday. I "mudded in" my second planting of snow peas and my sugar snaps...250' total....some years its feast and others it is famine. jwww

Finally yesterday I saw signs of peas emerging. I soaked the peas and planted them 3 weeks ago! I don't think it's EVER going to warm up this year...

Hi Dotty, mine started popping up two days ago I think I planted around the same time as you. It's miserable, cold and raining here but got DH motivated and we got a Jonathan Shaw Rhodie planted in my so called little courtyard.

This weekend I replanted the ones that didn't sprout. About 15% of mine didn't sprout, mostly because they appeared to rot. A few others simply split in half and didn't germinate. I didn't plant split peas... hehe.

Anyhow, I presoaked overnight and planted the empty holes and hopefully the rest will fill in around my trellis.
