Easily found in garden centers both as dormant tubers at appropriate times and as growing plants. Main one is Cyclamen hederifolium, this blooms in autumn (August onwards). Winter blooming C. coum is also pretty consistently offered, this is still in flower right now so you may find it in stock yet if you call around.

Both are available now as potted plants if you locate the right source :-) I wouldn't delay too long as stocks of either tend to be limited and they go dormant in summer months. Hederifolium blooms befor the leaves appear and then the foliage - very attractive in its own right - will remain in place throughout winter and early spring. Coum tends to bloom simultaneously with the emerging foliage and since it will receed in to dormancy in summer, doesn't tend to have such a long visual presence in the garden.

Both like a somewhat dry, shady location - underplanting rhodies is ideal. Dormant tubers of hederifolium can often be found offered with other summer or fall flowering bulbs (now); dormant coum tubers are generally offered with spring flowering bulbs.

Which ones are the native cyclamens that grow wild here? I just love them and have them growing in a couple of places on our property and would like more.

Dotty is probably talking about reseeding C. hederifolium--or maybe confusing Cyclamen with Dodecatheon. Cyclamen is a strictly Old World genus.

WE have both Dodecatheon and cyclamen on our property and they are both wonderful in the springtime. Since the cyclamen is growing in an area that has never been close to a house, I presumed it was native. Thanks for setting me straight Bboy. We are also very lucky to have a huge stand of white Erythronium that are just starting to emerge. We also have pink erythronium starting to establish themselves. Isn't the PNW lovely?
