It might be a wait and see, it was such a lousy winter. I have a couple of Hebes, they wintered well but they are well established. Planting it in the fall it might not have had time to harden off. If it hasn't survived by all means try again, Hebes are great. Towards the end of summer don't overly water, give the new growth a chance to harden off before the frosts hit. As long as you plant in well draining soil it should do fine. Hope this helps.

I've had hebes live over in pots for a couple of years, but two cute 4" ones died last year. I don't know if it was the cold or too much water or not enough...My larger ones in the ground did ok, but two that I've had for years have some dead branches this year (never happened before).

Scratch the branches. If you see pale green, they're still alive.
