I've got salal (99% sure that's what it is) in various spots in my yard. I like it, but in one back corner the previous owner allowed it and a blackberry bush to run free. Now, it (and the darn blackberry) take up a huge chunk of yard and are still creeping. The blackberry and I had our fight, and I think I won for now, but the salal is proving more difficult. Can someone please tell me the best way to push it back and keep it from spreading? I don't want it gone all together, but do I pull it out at the roots, prune the plant off at the ground, or what?
